NEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED
Caryford Community Hall is now recruiting new members to its Management Committee, in particular for the position of Honorary Treasurer. We also have a vacancy for Honorary Secretary and for new committee members with skills to complement our existing team.

The Committee of Trustees which manages the Hall wishes to recruit an Honorary Treasurer to serve on the Committee.
You do not need to be an accountant to take on the role of Treasurer. Assistance will be provided during the transitional period and training is also available, provided by the Community Council for Somerset.
The Treasurer takes the lead amongst the Trustees for running of the financial aspects of the Hall, including:
keeping a record of financial transactions;
making sure that payments are made on time and pursuing debtors;
ensuring that the “money in the bank” is sufficient to meet the Hall’s commitments;
taking a lead on preparing the Annual Budget
preparing financial reports to the trustees so that they can see how well the charity is performing against its plans and budgets.
The Treasurer will also be involved in managing funds for the Hall’s ambitious building extension project, as well as making contract payments during the building work.
The Committee of Trustees which manages the Hall wishes to recruit an Honorary Secretary to serve on the Committee.
Experience in letter writing and in office management/administration is desirable. The Hall is a charity and the position is voluntary. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed.
The Hon Secretary’s main role is to help the Committee with its administration by:
dealing with correspondence, emails and other contacts with the public, external organisations and authorities
arranging meetings of the Committee by preparing and circulating (by email) agendas, minutes and other documents
updating the wording of operational documents (e.g. the standard written hiring agreement and its conditions) after amendments have been agreed
The Hon Secretary will make a crucial contribution to the smooth running of the Committee and the Hall and the successful completion of its ambitious building extension project.
The Committee of Trustees which manages the Hall wishes to recruit several new Committee Members.
You will be enthusiastic for non-for-profit endeavours and be keen to work with a team of local people to manage the Hall for community benefit, efficiently and effectively. The Hall is a charity and the positions are voluntary. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed.
Committee members decide how the Hall is managed and take day to day responsibility for the tasks needed to operate a busy, popular and well used building.
These tasks include:
building inspection and maintenance
liaison with hirers
planning and organising local fundraising events in the Hall
New Committee members will make a crucial contribution to the smooth running of the Committee and the Hall and to the successful completion of its ambitious building extension project.
