Our Main Hall is one of the largest in the area and, in conjunction with our modern new kitchen facilities, can be configured for a range of events:

  • Functions with catering such as wedding receptions, dinners or parties, with seating for up to 150 guests.

Additional Information

The hall measures 18.3 x 10.7 metres (60 x 35 feet).

Hirers are able to make use of our fixed and portable PA systems, together with wired and wireless microphones and an integral hearing loop. We also have stage and mood lighting for events.

There is also a projector available that can be used in conjunction with a large screen and a demountable stage is available for presentations and performance. Further technical details of the above are included in the notes below.

The furniture available is as follows:

  • 200 chairs
  • 15 large tables – 0.76 x 1.83 metres (2′ 6″ x 6′ )
  • 14 small tables – 0.76 x 0.91 metres (2′ 6″ x 3′ )

Main Hall Fixed Audio System

The Main Hall has a professional fixed ‘house’ audio system (located in the hall store, with instructions for use). It is suitable for audio-visual presentations and background music. Two pairs of speakers in the hall provide for moderate sound levels, however the system is not suitable for showing films, performance or live music events, for which we now have a more capable portable PA system.

There are two ‘wireless’ radio microphones connected to the fixed system, one wearable with a tie clip microphone and one on a stand which can easily be positioned for introductions or performance.  A hearing loop around the hall allows visitors with a compatible hearing aid to connect the to the audio feed.

A laptop, phone or tablet may be connected into the audio system. A suitable cable is available  to connect to the input into the audio system located in the corner of the hall (near the hall store).

Portable PA System

In addition to our fixed or ‘house’ PA system, we have a more capable portable PA system that can be used for events such as parties, dance, live music, theatrical performance or showing films. This comprises the following:

HK Audio Premium PR:O 18′′ Active Subwoofer
HK Audio Premium PR:O 12′′ Active Main Speakers
Proel 12′′ Active Floor Monitors
Mackie Pro FX12 v3 FX Mixer with USB Interface
Shure SM58 Dynamic Microphones (2 No)
Speaker Stands and Microphone Stands
A selection of XLR and Jack cables

Use of this equipment is by prior arrangement only. A fixed charge will be made in addition to the hall hire charge. This equipment can also be linked to the hearing loop.

Projector and Screen

The hall has a 4.5m wide remote control operated screen suitable for presentations or for showing films. A projector is also available with VGA, HDMI and Display Port cables and connectors.

These allow a laptop (not provided) to be connected to the projector.  A 10m audio cable with a 3.5mm male headphone jack is also available so that the audio feed from the laptop can be connected into the hall audio systems and hearing loop.

A pointer/clicker is provided for use by presenters, stored with the projector.

The projector is an Epson EB W31 with 1280 x 800 resolution at 3,200 Lumen, which coupled with the wide screen, is suitable for viewing from the rear of the hall. In daytime the blackout curtains need to be closed.

Stage and Lighting

Located in the hall store there is an easily erected movable stage. This is made up of 20 modules, each 75 cm by 75 cm, typically erected in a 5 x 4  configuration (3.75m x 3.0m). Edge protection and steps are included with the system.

For lighting, we now have the LED lighting that can be used either as stage lighting or to create a ‘mood’ in the hall for parties or performance. This comprises:

  • 8 No Chauvet CorePAR 80 RGB lights, normally configured as uplighters, but which can be reconfigured as stage lights.
  • 2 No Chauvet SlimPAR W stage lights configurable between warm white and cool white

These can be controlled from a Chauvet Obey 40 controller using wireless technology.
